Movie Review - The Fighter

Movie Synopsis - The Fighter
Movie Trailer - The Fighter

When I first heard of The Fighter, I wasn't very attracted to it. I thought it would just be another boxing/fighting movie. I'm not a fan of such movie. The movie only caught my attention after Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor during the recent Academy Award. In my opinion, Geoffrey Rush did a great job in The King's Speech. I think Geoffrey Rush deserve the award but if the award was given to Christian Bale, I guess his performance must be outstanding. So I went to watch the trailer and it got me into it immediately. I told Jas that we must catch this movie. At first she was quite reluctant towards my sudden change in mind but after much persuasion, she went with me.
In overall, the movie is a movie with everything in it. Both me and Jas were quite satisfy and happy with the movie. Even though it is not a movie that will give u the WOW feeling but it is definitely a movie that will draw a smile on your face.

The plot was good. The progress of the movie was acceptable. It is quite a long movie though but every aspect of a movie was covered. I can't remember any particular unresolved issue in the movie. Like I said earlier, after the movie, me and Jas felt satisfied.

The acting was notable. Christian Bale totally outshined Mark Wahlberg. Besides the Best Supporting Actor, Melissa Leo also won Best Supporting Actress for her heart-felt performance as Alice Ward, Dicky and Micky's mother. The scripts and casts were right. The casting team behind this movie must have put in a lot of effort to get the right people.

Overall, it was a great movie. Just lacking a bit of WOW factor that will definitely push the movie to a higher level.

I rate this movie a 3.5/5. A movie that brings the best out of a simple story.
