Movie Review - The King's Speech

Movie Synopsis - The King's Speech
Movie Trailer - The King's Speech

The King's Speech is undoubtedly the most beautiful movie that I'd ever watched in this past decade. It might sound exaggerating but it is the truth. It has been a long time since I last watched a movie that can provide me with such satisfying feeling when I stepped out of the cinema. As we were walking to car park, all that Jas and me were talking about is how beautiful the movie is. I even told her that I couldn't find a single flaw in the movie for me to complain about. If you asked me to recall, the last movie that I can think of that gave me the same feeling was the movie "A Beautiful Mind" in 2001. It took me 10 years to find another movie that can give me the same feeling.

The King's Speech truly deserves the Academy Award for Best Picture. Colin Firth also deserved to be crown as Best Actor in the recent 83rd Academy Award. As I've said earlier, to me, The King's Speech is a flawless movie. Honestly speaking, just by reading the simple synopsis, it feels like a simple movie. The truth is, it is really a simple movie but it was beautifully produced, directed and delivered to the audience. This is the magic of Tom Hooper who undoubtedly deserve the Best Director award.

This movie is definitely cinema quality. It is worth every single cent you pay for the movie. Colin Firth carrie d the role of King George VI perfectly. His performance is astounding. I was surprised that Geoffrey Rush didn't win Best Supporting Actor. He was awesome in his role as Lionel Logue.

The scripts of the movie were nice done. It is very adaptive to the audience. The scripts were surprisingly easy to understand. If any layman were to put in just a little effort, they will find the movie very entertaining. The jokes were very soft and yet it will make you laugh. The degree of seriousness in the script were also nicely adjusted to suit the viewers. It tensed you up and will later calm you down.

Every other details about this movie that were not discussed here could be easily summed up with one word. Beautiful. Even the poster is beautiful.

Overall rating 4.5/5. If you still haven't watch The King's Speech, you better go catch it now. It is really good. It is a simple movie made beautifully.
