Movie Review - Burlesque

Movie Synopsis - Burlesque
Movie Trailer - Burlesque

Since the first day when I saw the trailer of Burlesque, I knew that I must watch this movie. The genre of the movie itself was already captivating enough to capture me to the cinema. Additional to that, cast like Cher and Christina Aquilera, who were more than just selling points for the movie; they were the reasons to watch the movie. Two powerful vocal diva in a movie. Where can you ever get such a good value in a movie.?

Much surprise to my expectation, there were still empty seats. So i thought maybe Malaysian are just not that into movies of such genre.

The movie also stars the hot Cam Gigandet as Jack, Ali's love interest; the charming Eric Dane was Marcus, the rich real estate businessman who wants to buy up Burlesque and Kirsten Bell as Nikki, Ali's rival in Burlesque who later on became her friend.

I totally love this movie. I told Jas that I don't mind watching it again with her. The scripts owere okay but the songs were awesome. The dance moves were very eye catchy and entertaining. Two hours is just too short for the movie. It is very entertaining for those who love to watch movies of similar genre. If you enjoyed movies like Moulin Rogue, Chicago, Wonder Girls, Hairspray, Mamma Mia! and the recent Nine, I dare say you would definitely enjoy watching Burlesque.

I only have a few complaints on the movie.

The progress of the movie was okay in the beginning. The built up towards the climax was just nice but towards the end, it appeared quite rush.

I would love to see Cher sing more. Cher only had only one solo scene where she sang her latest hit "You Haven't Seen The Last of Me". She is a true diva. She sang with her heart. She delivered the song so good that I was in tears. It is as though I can totally feel how she felt.

Well, Christina is very beautiful. She is just an eye candy with a pair of very distracting boobs. I have to agree that she owns a very good voice but I personally felt that she is not singing with her heart. She sings to impress. She doesn't sings to deliver.

The love story in between Ali and Jack is not necessary. I also think Kirsten Bell deserve a bigger role in the movie. Eric Dane is just wasting his talent there. Anyone can play his role. I've got a question for the producers and directors. Is Marcus interested in Ali?

Overall, it is a good movie to catch. I'm just being picky maybe because I've got expectation on the movie. I'll rate is 3.5/5.
